Let me know what services you want access to and I will get you setup with your own accounts for each.
You MUST be connected to the correct local WiFi (not "Virus") OR connected via Tailscale to access the other services.
Clicking an icon will take you to the local web login page.
Clicking the text below it will take you to the app downloads on each platform.
If you have any questions, let me know.
A NAS (Network Attached Storage) is a computer with hard drives that stores and shares files over a home network.
It lets us save and access things like photos, videos, and documents from anywhere (with the help of Tailscale). It also runs apps like Jellyfin for streaming and Immich for photo backups.
Think of it as our own private cloud, but at home and fully under our control. This NAS has mirrored storage so if one hard drive fails, the data will not be lost.
Tailscale is an app that lets you securely connect to the NAS (home server) from anywhere, just like you're on the same Wi-Fi.
It creates a private, encrypted network between our devices, so you can easily and safely access things remotely like shared files or media services I’ve set up.
Just install Tailscale, log in with the family google account, select the option that says "Jellyscale" and you’ll be able to connect to the server as if you were at home.
You do not need Tailscale if you are connected to the correct WiFi.
Jellyfin is a media server app that lets you stream and download movies, TV shows, music, eBooks, and audiobooks* from my NAS to your devices.
It is like a private Netflix, but with content we own. You can use it to watch or listen to media anytime, from anywhere, as long as you are connected (like through Tailscale).
Just open the Jellyfin app or website, log in, and enjoy the library I’ve set up for the family. You can login via the family account or with your own.
For eBooks, I would recommend downloading the files and using ReadEra. For the audiobooks, you may want to find an audiobook player app.
*The audiobook library does not save your place.
Immich is a private photo and video backup app that automatically saves and organizes your memories on my NAS instead of using Google Photos or iCloud.
It lets you back up photos and videos from your phone, view them in a timeline, and share albums. You will have your own account separate from everyone elses.
⚠️ Important: While Immich is a great tool, it is just one part of a good backup plan. For full protection, follow the 3-2-1 rule:
Keep 3 copies of your data
Store them on 2 different types of storage
Keep 1 copy offsite (like cloud storage or a separate physical location)
